Rohde & Schwarz presents at productronica 2019 its portfolio for all stages of development, verification and production

The Munich based technology group Rohde & Schwarz welcomes visitors on its home turf at productronica, the world’s leading trade fair for electronics development and production. At booth 375 in hall A1 of Messe München, the company will display its solutions for Industry 4.0, test and measurement solutions for production and development, and automatic production test systems. In addition, visitors can learn about the group’s electronic manufacturing services.
Munich, October 24, 2019 — Accelerate design. Maximize performance. Under this banner, Rohde & Schwarz is showcasing its portfolio at the biennial Munich trade fair, productronica. The company’s test and measurement solutions help engineers gain confidence in their designs at all stages of the development, verification and production processes.
Solutions for industry 4.0
Smart factories rely heavily on wireless communications technologies to automate their processes and increase productivity. Hence, the availability and reliability of the wireless systems are a major concern. At productronica 2019, Rohde & Schwarz will display a range of solutions to prevent disruption of wireless systems. With handheld spectrum analyzers such as the R&S Spectrum Rider FPH and the R&S MNT100 RF interference locator, manufacturers can easily detect radio interference that might cause output delays. To measure coverage and provide insight into the RF performance of the network, manufacturers can use state-of-the-art drive test and walk test scanners from the R&S TSMx family. Smartphone based RF optimization and service quality assessment with the Qualipoc Android can help them optimize the service quality of a network within a smart factory.
Test and measurement solutions for production
Maintaining high throughput and keeping costs low is crucial in production environments. At productronica, Rohde & Schwarz is presenting test and measurement solutions that help meet these objectives. These solutions already cover technologies such as 5G, WLAN and automotive radar during production and end-of-line calibration.
With the latest version of the R&S CMW100 radio communication tester, Rohde & Schwarz will display its tried and tested production tester for 5G FR1 devices. The flexible one-box solution with eight antenna ports also covers 4G, 3G, WLAN and Bluetooth(R). For production tests of 5G FR2 devices, covering parametric testing in an over-the-air test setup, Rohde & Schwarz has developed the compact R&S CMPQ, a turnkey mmWave OTA test solution for FR2. This solution is based on a radio communication tester, a shielded cube and accessories, all coming from a single supplier, Rohde & Schwarz.
For speed-optimized production testing of 4G and 5G base stations, Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate a scalable high-performance RF test solution with a setup based on cloud technology, comprising the R&S SMBV100B signal generator, the R&S FSVA3000 signal and spectrum analyzer and the R&S Quickstep sequencing software. The combination of the R&S SMBV100B and R&S FSVA3000 is also ideal for flexible testing of WLAN, cellular and IoT components and devices in R&D, verification and production.
For comprehensive testing of state-of-the-art and next generation automotive radar sensors, Rohde & Schwarz offers a new, harmonized solution consisting of the R&S ATS1500C automotive radar test chamber and the R&S AREG100A automotive radar echo generator. They form a unique and innovative indirect far-field chamber solution that ensures reliable and reproducible testing of radar sensors on a small footprint.
With the R&S ZNL and R&S ZNBT20, Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate two vector network analyzer solutions optimized for production applications. The R&S ZNL features fast and precise measurements and comes with a low price tag, perfect for filter testing. The R&S ZNBT20 with its true-multiport architecture features 24 ports up to 20 GHz and outstanding RF specifications. It is ideal for parallel measurements and short test times, for instance for verifying beamformer ICs for phased array antennas.
Test and measurement solutions for development
For the challenging measurement tasks during development and other areas with increased requirements in terms of RF performance, flexibility and measurement depth, Rohde & Schwarz will highlight a number of products and applications at productronica. They include a measurement solution for active, frequency converting devices, using the R&S ZNA high-end vector network analyzer. The company will also demonstrate 5G base station testing under fading conditions with the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and R&S FSW43 signal and spectrum analyzer.
Another product highlight is the R&S SMA100B analog microwave signal generator, which reaches a frequency of 67 GHz and in overrange up to 72 GHz while offering an extremely pure analog output signal. The latest member of the Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscope family, the R&S RTP164 high-performance oscilloscope offering 16 GHz bandwidth, will also be on display. With innovative features such as realtime deembedding, a hardware based 16 Gbps clock data recovery and an integrated TDR/TDT solution, it is the ideal oscilloscope for signal integrity and debugging in the lab.
Automatic production test systems
At productronica, the Rohde & Schwarz subsidiary GEDIS will present selected automatic test systems – including the GTE300, a modular automatic test system for in-circuit tests, function tests, boundary scan and flash, optimized for testing of high quantities. Depending on the application environment, the GTE300 can be used for either island or inline operation. Moreover, Rohde & Schwarz will display the latest generation and extended range of relay modules for its modular open switch and control platform, the R&S OSP, which performs RF switch and control tasks quickly and easily up to 67 GHz. The platform is ideal for applications in production as well as R&D.
Electronic manufacturing services
Rohde & Schwarz is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of RF products with a high level of vertical manufacturing. However, other manufacturers of electronic products can also benefit from the company’s expertise. At productronica, visitors can learn about various high-precision electronic manufacturing services (EMS) offered by the Rohde & Schwarz plant in Memmingen. The plant in Teisnach offers mechanical services including complete assembling services as well as 3D printing and precision mechanical parts and waveguides.
High-throughput security scanner
An eye-catcher at the Rohde & Schwarz booth is the new R&S QPS Walk2000, a walk-through personal scanner that is ideal for security and loss prevention applications in manufacturing environments. It provides realtime scanning without the need to remove any layers of clothing to detect potentially hidden objects. The scanner solution delivers extremely high throughput and causes minimal disruption to the individuals being screened, since there is no need to stop and wait to be scanned.
Visit Rohde & Schwarz at productronica 2019 in hall A1, booth 375, Messe München, from November 12 to 15, 2019. More information can be found at:
